Manhattan Bound

Tucked away in my attic is a poster from my senior year of high school. Posted on it is a quick survey that was conducted with each graduating senior at the time.

Where will you be in five years?

My answer?

Living in New York City receiving a graduate degree in journalism.

Guess what you guys? The time has come!!

I've officially been accepted to the City University of New York's journalism graduate program and am moving to the Big Apple in August!

Want to know a secret? I'm terrified. But so, so happy to see MY dream coming true.

Lark Burger

See that beautiful mushroom burger goodness??

Two words: Lark Burger.

Oh, and it's called the Amy Burger.

One word: Fate.

Springtime Reflection

I type this while sitting in my bedroom with the afternoon light streaming in. It seems like most of the country has been hit with a big dose of spring weather this week and oh my goodness, I am not complaining one bit! This weather makes me so perfectly content.

I have recently found myself asking, "How could I possible be this happy?". I've had some quiet moments reflecting on where I was when we headed into the winter months....And where I am now as we head out. I want to go back to November 2011 Amy, give her a big hug and say "Hang on, life is about to get SO good". And it is. Oh so good.

Back In The Saddle Again

Whew, my holiday hiatus actually was a month-long break. But I'm back, baby! And feeling good.

So good in fact that today, I have my first...date.

I've actually been so looking forward to today. I even treated myself to a new outfit. The employee who rang me up at the register asked if my purchases were for anything in particular. "I HAVE A DATE!" is what she received in response. Just a tad excited over here. Can't you tell from my face in the dressing room photo??

Not a bad way to start the week. Well, hopefully....I mean, the man could tell me his teeth are rotting like one guy did during dinner on a first date. Word to the wise: Don't ever do that. And brush your teeth.

2012: Let The Party Begin

Happy New Year!!

Did you hear? 2012 is going to be AMAZING.

I spent the weekend skiing with my momma and sister. I also had the opportunity to meet the friendly ski patrol man at Copper Mountain as I was stranded on the mountain after discovering my bindings were too big for my boots. But it doesn't matter people: 2012 is going to rock.

Frankly, it has no other choice.

Shoe Shopping

I have been planning on buying this gorgeous pair of heels on December 30th. But they are apparently sold out everywhere. Not a pair to be found.

So on to Plan B. Would you recommend the Bow Pumps or Curl Stacked Heels? Or did you want to buy me some Louboutins?

How An Anthro Sale Strengthened My Faith

I'm a girl who doesn't pay full price for anything. And I can honestly say I don't shop very often (although this is the second Anthro-related posted in the last few weeks). But yesterday, I made a rather substantial shopping trip to Anthropologie.

While I feel some guilt over it, I also think it was God's way of taking care of me.

Don't roll your eyes, I'm serious!

You see, right after I became just me, I was standing in an Anthropologie dressing room surrounded by beautiful, expensive clothes. And I suddenly thought, "I'm going to buy all of this." I knew that meant spending more than $800 but I didn't care one bit in that moment. That was what I wanted. While in every other aspect of my life it didn't seem to matter one bit about what I wanted, this...this I could make happen.

Then that logical, couponer in me piped in. I walked out empty-handed.

But this month....Oy vey.... If there ever was a month in my life where I could use some retail therapy, it's this month. In fact, I don't even need the whole month, just the next 8 days. Official divorcement, Christmas and would-be anniversary all fall within 8 days of one another.

Well yesterday I get another email from Anthropologie. Big sale aaaand take 50% off the bottom price.

I would not be surprised if my right bicep is sore tomorrow from the lug of clothes I carried to the dressing room this afternoon.

So in the end, I still had my shopping spree at a low(er) cost.

Win, win.
