Framing Scarves

I dipped into Madewell's Soho location last Friday and came across this charming NYC-themed scarf. Combine that with their 40% off sale items promo and I couldn't pass it up. While it looked gorgeous on, I have a hankering to make it into a long-lasting home decor piece.

It immediately reminded me of Kelly Bensimon (take a moment to reminisce about the good ol' days on The Real Housewives of New York..."I'm up here and you're down here"), who turned her Hermes scarves into pillows for her downtown pad.

I love the look but do worry about the scarf to be destroyed. I'm leaning towards framing it. It would be fun to do with this Madewell scarf too!

I must get my hands on this Hawaiian islands scarf.

BHLDN's Brings Flirt & Glam To Their Spring Line

Am I about to do a blog post about wedding gowns?

Yes. Yes, I am.

And NO, this is not an announcement! But when BHLDN sent me an email last week announcing the release of their spring line, I had to take a peak. They weaved lots of romance in these dresses and even a touch of bling.

I love seeing what trends emerge each wedding season. I remember the big "sash" phase a few years ago. And last year was the year of the textured gowns, like this one (and I still love this look). I love the softer, more romantic look that is popping up this year. What about you? Any dress from BHLDN'S new line that catches your eye?

Best of Golden Globes Red Carpet

Emily Blunt

I am beginning to realize I must be an entertainment reporter at some point in my career so I can get on the red carpet. Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? Here are some of my fav fashion picks from the evening.

Lucy Liu. Not sure many could pull this print off but I think it works.

Anne Hathaway rocking a peplum.

Michelle Dockery showing some shimmer, a huge trend of the evening.

Nicole Kidman.

Hayden Panettiere. I am loving the bodice. Would have swapped out the trumpet skirt though for something with a sleek finish.

Embracing Imperfections

I have been giving quiet a bit of thought to my personal resolutions for 2013 and have struggled to pinpoint very many. As I tucked myself into bed on December 31st, I suddenly had one phrase come across my mind.

Embrace imperfections.

It's so easy to fall into the trap of  not being ____ enough. Smart, stylish, financially fit, secure, the list goes on. And don't let the idea that achieving whatever "it" is will solve your problems. There is always something, right?

For 2013, I want to re-grasp the ability to accept and even embrace my imperfections. Gwyneth Paltrow (or perhaps someone on her team rather) put together a thorough read on what experts have had to say on the topic. You can read it here. My friend and one-time therapist made me repeat the following affirmation often to myself: "I have the right to be myself without feeling I'm not good enough." I'm sticking to that for the next year and hopefully will garner the strength for more to come.

Have you had to learn this lesson a time or two? What attributes are you hoping to work on this year?

A Love Note to 2012

Photo from here.

The year 2012 brought me my dreams. Manhattan-living, marathon-running, falling-in-love kind of dreams. It has been the best year of my life. Signed, sealed and now delivered.

Hey 2013, you have some big shoes to fill. But with internship opportunities unfolding, a pending graduation date, new friends and a year to dive into this city of mine, I think it's going to go toe-to-toe with 2012. Can't wait to see what unfolds.
